Mike, originally from Mid-West USA, spent decades in dark film and TV editing rooms shaping other people’s stories, and he decided it was time to write his own.His first novel, The Universe, a speculative fiction dive into the strange intersections of life and fate is out in the world. The upcoming, Ben Birch Can Fix Anything, a warm-hearted revenge thriller, and Reset a light dystopian novella about the guy who ended civilization as we know it, and his bot thearpist, are coming soon. In the distant past he wrote and directed a feature film, Feed the Fish.

Around 2012 I wrote 1 1/2 pages about an idea I had for a food & travel show. Cultural learning, seeing beautiful places, and trying the greatest bread in the world.I gave the pitch to Tony Shalhoub, who loved it and passed it to a producer friend, Tamara Weiss.Tamara loved, LOVED, it and after years of planning, meeting, and pitching, helped to engineer a deal with CNN Originals to make the first season.Breaking Bread with Tony Shalhoub is on CNN.
