Mike is a writer originally from Mid-West USA, (Wisconsin) and currently in California. After 30 years spent in dark film and TV editing rooms shaping other people’s stories, he decided it was time to write his own.His first novel, The Universe, is a speculative fiction dive into the strange intersections of life and fate. The upcoming sophomore novel titled, Ben Birch Can Fix Anything, is a warm-hearted revenge thriller based on one of Mike’s, unproduced screenplays. In the distant past he wrote and directed a feature film, Feed the Fish.When he’s not writing, he’s busy taking care of his people and himself—not necessarily in that order.

Around 2012 I wrote 1 1/2 pages about an idea I had for a food & travel show. Cultural learning, seeing beautiful places, and trying the greatest bread in the world.I gave the pitch to Tony Shalhoub, who loved it and passed it to a producer friend, Tamara Weiss.Tamara loved, LOVED, it and after years of planning, meeting, and pitching, helped to engineer a deal with CNN Originals to make the first season.Breaking Bread with Tony Shalhoub is coming fall 2025.
